I make this ground beef stroganoff with cream cheese in addition to the sour cream. It really adds another level of smooth creaminess.
Ingredients and how they work together
These creamy ground beef noodles have-
- Wide egg noodles, cooked until tender
- Cooked ground beef
- Sliced mushrooms and chopped onions
- Seasonings like rosemary, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper
- Flour and beef broth to thicken the gravy
- Cream cheese and sour cream to make it super creamy
This was the first recipe that I made with these beautiful pans from Italic. I couldn’t believe how little oil I had to use and how easy they were to clean. It made this dish even easier to make if that’s possible.

How to make easy stroganoff
Start by cooking the egg noodles according to package directions.
Brown the ground beef in a pan over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Remove from the heat and strain the beef in a strainer over a bowl, and set aside.
In a mid-sized pan, sauté the sliced mushrooms and chopped onions in 2 Tbs butter until the mushrooms and onions have softened, around 5 minutes. Add the spices: rosemary, thyme, and paprika.
Sprinkle 1 Tbs of flour over the mushrooms and onions then stir everything to combine.
To the pan, add 1 cup of beef broth. Let the broth thicken up by simmering for 2-3 minutes.
Turn the heat off and add to the broth the cream cheese. Stir to combine until cream cheese had completely melted.
To the pan add the drained noodles and ground beef.
Finally, add the sour cream. This gives it a creamy taste.
FAQ’s
Can you freeze beef stroganoff?
No, this contains egg noodles and a dairy-based sauce, these ingredients do not freeze well.
Should you drain ground beef?
If it is less than a 90/10 ground beef mixture, drain the beef. This leaves less grease in the dish that you are making.

This beef stroganoff looks super delicious!
Thank you so much, Lori!
Good
Thank you, Susan. I’m happy you enjoyed it.
I just made this, and it was easy and very good! My question is in the list of ingredients, you have listed 2 tablespoons butter and flour. In the directions I only see using 1 tablespoon of each. I used 2 tablespoons flour and it was super thick, so I ended up adding more broth (No complaints, more sauce is never a problem). 😋
Thank you so much for pointing out the discrepancy. Yes, it is 2 tablespoons butter and 1 tablespoon flour. I have updated the recipe to reflect that. Thank you again!
