This Hawaiian pizza is the perfect combination of salty and sweet.
The toppings for this homemade pizza start with classic pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, ham, and pineapple. For mine, I like to also add chunks of red onion.
Sure, pizza goes with everything but is Hawaiian pizza the best choice? Is Hawaiian pizza good you might ask? Yes, and yes. However, I know this pizza combination of ham and pineapple is constantly one of the most controversial pizzas. But honestly, it’s pizza, let’s just enjoy it!

What movie pairs well with pizza and beer?
I recommend I Think We’re Alone Now. This was a good movie (the end could have been a little clearer), but if you are a fan of apocalyptic genres then this one is for you. Plus, Peter Dinklage is in it and I have a hard time passing on his movies. He is so good at everything from comedy to drama.
What beer pairs well with Hawaiian Pizza?
The beer: No, Yeah from Bell’s Brewery.
This is a year-round golden ale from Bell’s Brewery. The perfect lightly flavored beer that is crispy and clean and goes spectacularly well with the sweetness and saltiness of this pineapple and ham pizza.
Ingredients
What toppings are on this easy Hawaiian pizza?
- Double dough pizza crust. The thick crust works so well to hold up to the thick chunks of pineapple.
- Prepared pizza sauce. I have a favorite sauce that I love to use, but you can of course make your own.
- Mozzarella cheese.
- Ham, chunks of pineapple, and red onions for topping. While red onions aren’t typically on a Hawaiian pizza, I just think they work so well on it so I add them every time.
How to make Hawaiian pizza step-by-step
Forever with my trusty Jiffy pizza crust recipe, I decided that a thick crust was my go-to. For this pizza, I used 3 packages of Jiffy pizza crust boxes plus 1 cup of warm water. Add to a bowl and stir to combine until a ball of dough is formed.
Cover the bowl with a towel and let rise for 20-30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Using floured hands take the dough out of the bowl and spread the crust onto a 9-inch pie pan.
Place the crust into the oven for 8-10 minutes.
Drain the pineapple chunks, then add them to a paper towel-lined plate and drain the pineapple further.
It’s important to make sure as much juice is out of the pineapple so the pizza doesn’t get soggy.
Take out of the oven and cover with the pizza sauce. Sprinkle on one cup of shredded mozzarella, half a pound of chopped ham, a small sliced red onion, and a drained can of chunky pineapple that has been patted dry.
Place back into the oven and cook for 20 minutes.
Slice into eight pieces.
Tips & Variations
- Once the crust has risen make sure to have flour nearby. Using flour on the hands and on top of the crust ensures that the dough doesn’t get too sticky.
- Don’t skip the pre-cooking of the crust. It’s important so that you don’t have a cooked top but a raw center.
- Make your own homemade pizza sauce using this recipe from Little Spice Jar.

Storage
Place leftovers in a covered container and refrigerate. Eat within 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 30-40 seconds. If you have an air fryer, I highly recommend using that to reheat pizza. Place 1-2 slices in the basket and set to 375 degrees for 4 minutes. The crust comes out crunchy and the cheese is perfectly melted.
It is not recommended to freeze this Hawaiian pizza recipe.
